So, today in America, we’re hearing reports that two McDonald’s customers are suing the chain for charging them for the slices of cheese they have not been eating in their Quarter Pounder burgers.
News.com.au has reported that Cynthia Kissner and Leonard Werner are seeking $6.5 million for being made to pay the same price for the fast food menu item despite not wanting a bar (or a slice, rather) of its iconic American cheese.
According to the claim, there were once four options available when ordering Quarter Pounder and yes, one of these offered a cheese-free option that cost somewhere between USD$0.30 and USD$0.90 cents less, The Miami Herald has shared.

Reportedly, the suit states that Macca’s has since stopped ”separately displaying these products for purchase on menus, and currently lists the availability of Quarter Pounder with Cheese and Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese.”
It continues:
“customers have been forced, and continue to be overcharged for these products, by being forced to pay for two slices of cheese, which they do not want, order, or receive, to be able to purchase their desired product.”
The plaintiffs believe they “have suffered injury as a result of their purchases because they were overcharged, and were required to pay for cheese, which is not a component of either a Quarter Pounder or a Double Quarter Pounder, that they did not want and did not receive.”
USA Today has since shared that a spokesperson for McDonald’s has spoken with them about the situation, sharing that the fast-food chain:
“not believe the claims in this lawsuit have legal merit. The advertised Quarter Pounder burger comes with cheese. We try to accommodate our customers’ requests by allowing them to customise their orders, such as a Quarter Pounder with no cheese”.
