No more 5am starts!

Working out in the morning is one of the hardest things to get into the habit of doing, but going to the gym at the end of the work day isn’t easy either – but there are great benefits in doing so!

But if you want to save yourself a few extra winks, here’s why you should consider working out at night, rather than the morning…

1. You’ll actually sleep better

sleep

So many studies have found that those who lift weights in the evening have a better night’s sleep and sleep for longer than those who lift in the morning or afternoon. Your sleep is important for muscle growth and recovery, and if you have a better snooze you’ll feel better and more rested in the morning.

2. You’ll work out better

As well as sleeping better, you’ll find you experience greater muscular gains and improved endurance when you workout in the evening – so you’ll actually get more out of your workout at that time.

3. Your blood pressure will go down

Blood Pressure

A study in the Journal of Strength Conditioning Research found those who trained at night lowered their blood pressure by 15 percent more than those who exercise in the morning.

4. You’ll see results quicker

Weight loss

A study done by The New England University of Birmingham found that if you exercise in the evening you can train for 20 percent longer and at a higher intensity. So you’ll burn even more calories at night and you’ll get those toned legs, stronger arms and lean abs in no time!

5. Your body responds better to a night time workout

In the morning our cortisol levels are higher which can actually inhibit muscle growth. In the evening, our testosterone levels are higher which will boost muscle growth and once again you’ll see results quicker!
