Forget about travelling to Sydney to see massive, international music acts because they could soon be performing at a outdoor concert venue at Morisset.

Construction is well and truly progressing on transforming the former Morisset Golf Course site into a multi-purpose entertainment facility and water park named Cedar Mill.

The $235 million development was first approved in 2022, with the Morisset venue to be home to a 100-metre-wide canopy stage, which has the capacity to host outdoor performances for 30,000 people.

Food and drink options can also be tailored for each event, with plenty of coach and car parking for would-be patrons.

The Cedar Mill concert venue is expected to be completed by late 2025 according to NBN News, with music promoters already thinking of national and international acts to open the venue.

The remaining space at the 72-hectare Cedar Mill site will also be transformed, becoming an entertainment venue, tourist park and water park complete with multiple restaurants and cafes.

The aquatic play park will be one of the largest in Australia, with previous reports indicating up to eight water slides, two water dumpers and a large run-through sprinkler.

The fun doesn’t stop there for the kids (and big kids at heart) with the Cedar Mill aquatic park also featuring its own mini lazy river.

Tourist accommodation and over-55 lifestyle living will also occupy approximately 35 hectares of the entertainment precinct.

Developers hope that Cedar Mill’ “halfway point” location between major cities Sydney and Newcastle will attract and grow tourism and community engagement in the area.
