The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup is set to kick off this week, but don’t worry if you can’t make it to a game because there will be live sites locally to watch the Matildas in action.
Our mighty Central Coast Mariners will be hosting official FIFA Women’s World Cup Viewing parties throughout the Matildas World Cup campaign.
The first viewing party will be held this Thursday (July 20) at Drifters Wharf from 7pm as the Matildas kick off their campaign against Ireland.
The viewing party will include trivia and prizes to be won. Seating is limited so it’s a case of first in best dressed, so make sure you’re there early.
Then, mark your calendars for the following week ‘cause the Central Coast Mariners will be hosting another viewing party at Drifters Wharf on Thursday, July 27, 2023, when the Matildas face off against Nigeria.
FIFA Women’s World Cup fever is spreading fast across the Central Coast with two teams continuing to set up base across our region ahead of the tournament.
The German Women’s team is exclusively using Central Coast Regional Sporting and Recreation Complex (CCRSRC) for training and rehabilitation purposes.
The team will be based locally for the duration of the tournament as they prepare for their Group H games against Morocco, Columbia and South Korea.
Due to the requirements of the tournament, public access to the venue will be strictly controlled with enhanced security procedures.
The world number two ranked team were welcomed to the region over the weekend, with 100 Coasties turning out for a Darkinjung Smoking Ceremony and training session as per ABC Central Coast.
The Central Coast will also be home to the English Lionesses, who are setting up base at Industree Group Stadium – which will be reverting to its generic name of Central Coast Stadium for the duration of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 under FIFA regulations.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup kicks off this Thursday, July 20, 2023, and will feature 32 teams competing in 64 matches across Australia and New Zealand throughout the rest of July and August.
