And what’s closed.

Hey there Easter bunnies and chocco fiends, welcome to your guide to what’s open over Easter.

As we all know, Easter is a time for relaxing, eating chocolate and Googling, ‘is the bottle-o open’ ad nauseum. While we can’t help you when it comes to the first two, we can jump on the ‘what’s open’ bandwagon.

So, without further ado, here’s what’s open over Easter across Good Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday across the Central Coast and rest of Australia if you’re travelling.

Friday

Good Friday is a national public holiday and recognised as a “restricted trading day”.

Some major retailers may be open but the overwhelming majority will be closed. In fact, it’s safer to assure they’ll be shut and plan ahead. This includes bottle shops which will indeed be closed on Friday.

In NSW, restaurants can open and serve alcohol between noon and 10pm so if you’re keen to explore, there are social options available.

Major supermarkets, including ColesWoolworths, and Aldi will be closed on Good Friday across NSW, ACT, Victoria, Tasmania, and Queensland.

The major shopping centres on the Central Coast – think Erina Fair, Bateau Bay Sqaure and Westfield Tuggerah – will all be closed on Good Friday.

The majority of McDonald’s stores will be trading on Good Friday – except those in food courts. Bunnings will be shut.

Domino’s will also be trading on Good Friday but with varying hours so check out your local.

7-Eleven will also be running at normal hours over the long weekend for all coffee, petrol, ice and can-of-emergency-baked-beans needs.

Small pharmacies may still be open but larger ones may be shut. Again, plan ahead if you have regular medication.

Saturday

Most retailers will open their doors for their normal trading hours including supermarkets and bottle shops.

Pubs, clubs, restaurants etc. can trade as normal etc. but just check with your local venue before heading down.

All the major Central Coast shopping centres – Erina Fair, Bateau Bay Sqaure and Westfield Tuggerah – will re-open with different trading hours to normal, so we recommend checking out their respective opening hours.

(Psssst. the local shopping centres are open for the rest of the Long Weekend so we recommend checking their hours for the whole weekend).

Sunday

Anddddd Easter Sunday we go right back to confusion with each state enforcing its own rules regarding trading hours and openings.

All Woolworths/Coles stores will open with standard trading hours in Victoria, Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Tasmania. Some stores in SA will also be open and the majority of stores in Qld will be open.

In NSW and the ACT, Woolies and Coles will be closed.

In South Australia, all Adelaide Coles metro stores will be closed. CBD stores will open 11am to 5pm and regional stores will be open from 8am till 8pm.

Monday

Just about everything returns to normal however some may have reduced hours still so plan ahead.

Most Woolworths stores will be open, with the exception of some Woolworths Metros in NSW, Victoria and Queensland. All Coles stores across the country will be open, except for select stores in South Australia.

And with that, we’ve survived another year of Googling en masse, ‘What’s open over Easter?’ Huzzah to all who celebrate.

The major local shopping centres will be operating on Public Holiday times so be sure to check out your local via their website before shopping ’til you drop.
