The proposed redevelopment of the Gosford waterfront will come at a cost of $687,080,000.

Under the plan, a projected 4,890 new jobs could be made during construction, with another 769 jobs expected post construction.

The proposal joins a host of previously pitched redevelopments to the Gosford Waterfront, with some plans going back as far as twelve years.

Current Central Coast Council Administrator Rik Hart has previously said the waterfront has long been identified as “having significant potential”.

“Gosford Waterfront has long been identified as having significant potential as a regional attractor and key public open space. Like Gosford, the waterfront has been the subject of many plans and studies with little movement to realise the plans,” Mr Hart said.

Shadow Minister for the Central Coast & Member for Wyong, David Harris, says it is important for Central Coast residents to discuss what they want the waterfront to look like.

“It is vitally important that the community talks about the kind of waterfront precinct they want to ensure large amounts of public space, visual impacts, and important issues such as access and parking in the development of any plan moving forward – The current visuals are high level concept pictures, and any final development would look quite different,” Mr Harris said.

Member for Gosford Liesl Tesch joined Mr Harris in urging residents to have their say.

“I strongly urge all local residents to put forward their vision of how we can transform our waterfront”, said Ms Tesch.

“It is so important that local residents put forward their own views on the Gosford Waterfront Precinct. We have the ability to be a fabulous tourist destination by unlocking the potential of the Gosford City.”

The plan to revitalise the Gosford waterfront and Central Coast Stadium will be tabled at tonight’s (September 27) ordinary council meeting.
