Eek!!
Police are warning the public to be careful opening email today after news of a Australian Taxation Office scam.
NSW Police have shared an image to Facebook identifying the email as fake:
“This tax refund phishing scam came through our email today. Don’t click the link. Delete straight away,” they advise.
The scam email, which uses the ATO logo, asks readers to click on a link to begin a manual refund review process.
It’s a particuarly alluring scam email as it also states, “most affected tax payers recieve around $220 credited into there [sic] accounts.”
Like most fake emails however, there are signs – like the typo example above.
