All mum’s know the struggle of finding a good baby sitter. It’s not like the old days where the thirteen-year-old neighbour kid was paid $10 to babysit you while your parents went to dinner.
Babysitting is a serious business these days, but it’s become a whole world simpler with the newest app ‘Motherhood’.
The app, a brainchild of two Sydney friends, allows anyone to join to post childcare jobs which nannies can then offer to take. The successful candidate can be judged using profile, photos, ratings and reviews.
“By connecting mums and minders in their local community, we can finally provide a truly on-demand solution,” Alice Pritchard, one of the creators, told TODAY Extra.
Now, ‘Motherhood’ creators are launching “speed dating” events around Sydney that will help to facilitate connections to other parents and baby sitters.
Each parent and nanny have a little time to chat, allowing the parents to get the ‘vibe’ of the nanny before they hire them.
Former Cosmopolitan and Dolly editor-in-chief Bronwyn Mccahon is among the mums attending these events, and loves them!
“I can walk away with five to six names that I’ve connected with, it straight away takes the pressure off opening the door that first time to a stranger and thinking, maybe not!”
You can register you interest in a baby sitter speed event in your local area by visiting motherhoodapp.com.
