Money expert Glen James joined Gina & Matty this morning to break down the 2024 Federal Budget and what it means for us Coasties.
Speaking to Gina & Matty, James explained that the biggest takeaway for Central Coast is of course the much talked about $300 energy rebate for all Australians.
“Energy prices make up a big part of the inflation numbers, so it is the government’s goal to get one inflation number to decrease before the next election,” James explained.
“I think a lot of it was, let’s throw a big hit at a big part of the inflation number so we can get inflation down a little bit on paper,” James added.
James also believes that the Federal Government is covering all their bases as they prepare for a potential election.
“Every interest group got a little tickle, scratch,” according to James.
“And while there were a couple of things of note, there were no new taxes, but they weren’t removing any.”
