Plus, we know when students are expected to commence.

The University of Newcastle’s long-awaited Gosford CBD campus is one step closer to reality with confirmation of a construction date.

University of Newcastle Vice-Chancellor Professor Alex Zelinsky AO confirmed “construction in Mann Street scheduled toward the end of 2023” with contractor Hansen Yuncken selected to develop the site.

Professor Zelinsky said the project team is working to finalise pre-construction planning and ensure the new campus meets the needs of students and the local community.

“The landscape has changed since we began planning our new campus and we are committed to delivering the campus our community needs and wants, in line with final designs,” Professor Zelinsky said.

Professor Zelinsky said the project is currently on track with plans to “welcome our first students in 2025.”

The new, three-storey campus will be close to Gosford Railway Station and bus terminal and will feature a small retail area, café and accessible open space for the community.

State Member for Gosford Liesl Tesch MP said the campus will play an important role in the future growth of the Gosford CBD.

“With the opening of the Mann Street Campus, Gosford is set to become a hub of innovation and world-class education, improving access to tertiary education across the Central Coast.

“This campus provides investment right in the heart of Gosford, creating fantastic local education opportunities for Central Coast students.

The NSW Government formally approved the high-tech campus in August, which will be built on the site of the former Mitre 10 building at 305 Mann Street, Gosford.

The site was selected in mid-2021 thanks to its proximity to Gosford Hospital and the University of Newcastle’s recently opened Clinical Research School.

The new, $63.8 million three-storey campus will be close to Gosford Railway Station and bus terminal and will feature a small retail area, café and accessible open space for the community.
