A world-class resort dedicated to motorsport is coming to the Lake Macquarie region, and we’ve got your first look.
The former Rhondda Colliery mine – located near Teralba – is set to be transformed into Black Rock Motor Resort, home to a world-class high-speed circuit and multi-tourism hotspot featuring a track designed by a leading Formula 1 (F1) track designer.

Leading F1 global track designer Tilke Group will design the 5.25km driving circuit alongside a driver training academy, go-kart racing precinct and adventure tourism experiences.
The fun doesn’t stop there, with the Black Rock Motor Resort to feature a function centre, short term accommodation and food venues.

It may come as little surprise with such an impressive list but the sporting facility will also create 229 permanent roles upon completion.
The site will draw national and international attention to the region, with motorsport enthusiasts and future motorsport stars set to descend on the area in years to come.

Black Rock Motor Resort CEO and founder Tony Palmer said the resort will also give back to the community.
“Black Rock Motor Resort is proud to be pioneering the adaptive re-use of a former coal mine into an exciting, world-class adventure tourism destination,” Palmer said.
“Black Rock Motor Resort will provide a range of motoring experiences including driver safety training for the young motorists of the region as well as exciting opportunities for the public to drive their own cars, or our cars, on the high-speed circuit.”

The Rhondda Colliery site is currently in its final stages of rehabilitation as per the NSW Government, with a handover to developers and construction to commence soon.
